Please note that we have moved all events originally hosted by the College of Albemarle — Manteo Campus to Roanoke Island Festival Park in Manteo. The move was necessitated by damage from Hurricane Irene.
“Beneath the Sand: Past & Present Archaeology at Fort Raleigh National Historic Site” presents the story of how archaeology at Fort Raleigh has changed over the years, and displays some of the artifacts that have been found. Come visit this special exhibit at the Fort Raleigh National Historic Site Visitor’s Center. The First Colony Foundation, the Friends of Outer Banks History Center, Elizabeth R. and Company, and the National Park Service join to present digs, lectures, and an exhibition this fall. You’re invited to attend and it’s all free.
